Job description:

This position will be a member of the team providing system administration for Unix/Linux systems in our Waltham R&D facility. Provides support to customers and project teams for the development, implementation and maintenance of standard architectural components. The Experimental Platform Group operates and manages a combination of approximately fifty application and infrastructure servers.Unix Technical skills / experience:
** Five plus years experience with UNIX/Linux
** Strong systems programming skills with shell scripting
** Familiar with building/installing open-source applications
** Experience with maintaining middle-ware platforms such as Apache and WebLogicPreferred Pluses:** Strong WebLogic (8 & 9) administration skills
** Experience with RedHat Enterprise 3/4 platform** Experience with Solaris 8-10 platform
** Experience supporting scientific applications (i.e. computational chemistry)** Working knowledge of LDAP administrationEducation/Competencies:
** BS in Computer Science or equivalent
** Experience with hardware (card installation, component break/fix process)
** Key Technologies: OS (Solaris 8/10), Server products (Weblogic, Tomcat, LDAP), networking tools(TCP/IP), storage/backup (Veritas NetBackup, Veritas Foundation Suite, Unix shell scripts).
** Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal
** Ability to interact and communicate with a diverse scientific and technological user community
** Proven ability to work on small teams in a fast paced environment;
** A self-starter with the proven ability to solve problems.
